Just a little announcement:
I’m excited to let you know I have another essay appearing in the current issue of Alexandria Living magazine!
It’s always a thrill to work with the kind folks at the magazine and as an Alexandria, Virginia resident it is especially fun to contribute.
Below is the link to my piece in the online version of Alexandria Living. If you like, please comment on the magazine website in the space they provide just below the essay.
We love the feedback!

Thanks again to all those who’ve asked what I’ve been up to lately. Blogging continues to be great fun and has proven to be an exciting pathway to opportunities such as this. Exciting!

Congratulations!
Thanks Andrea!
Another fabulous article! And just in time. I am turning 65 in April. I spent the morning viewing a video about Medicare. I kept putting it off. I plan to work to 70 – hopefully. I’m lucky – my work is my play. Thank you again for this story – I aspire to be Nadine!
Thanks, and happy birthday! I aspire to be a Nadine myself,,,!
What a great encounter! Loved the “I woke up this morning and that’s more than some people did. The rest is up to me.” A good way to look at the day, whether you’re young or old. 😉
I agree! It’s a good rule to go by no matter what!
Congratulations! Well done!
Thanks!
That’s the attitude we should all aspire to have. Good story.
She made it look easy!
That’s what made it so special.
Man, I can sure relate to ” little ole Nadine”. I don’t feel that spry any longer but I won’t forget what she told you. Thanks for sharing and getting me up out of this old chair that I’m too attached to.
Congratulations, Stu.
I know you’re every bit as spry, Kitty! You always were!
Congratulations, Stuart. That’s a delightful, spry “old” lady. I’m leaving now… got some jumpin’ jacks to do!
I don’t doubt for a minute that you’re as spry as they come!
Hah! They don’t call me “Rocket” for nuthin’!!
Haha! I love that!
My mother walked three miles a day until she was 87 and had to stop because of leg pain, But she continues to do daily exercises–at 95. Attitude is everything.
I agree, and hats off to your mother! Love it.
Wonderfully motivational story, Stu! Love it. I won’t remember Nadine’s name, but I’ll never forget what she said. Congrats on the regular column in Altexandria Living Magazine!
Thanks Diane! We grew up with a lot of Nadines!
As one who will reach the “official” age of being senior citizen this year, I appreciate Nadine’s zest for life!
I’m betting you will be fine!
So nice! And her name is the same as mine. 😊
Ha! True! The two of you are the only Nadines I know!
I envy you for meeting her! You captured her spirit in your writing so well, it was as if I was there. So I take back what I said first. Enjoyed reading immensely!
Thank you, what a great compliment!
Nice write. Your stories always have something special each time. It’s always a pleasure to read them.
Thank you Jasbir!
Very nice
Nadine’s words are absolutely wonderful and a perfect way to look at life. I’m 84 and walking the tight rope of realizing some things are going to be in my past and I still have the energy to feel joy today.
I’m betting you have it all under control!
Only partly. But conversations with my sons who are about your age center me in what is really valuable in my life.
Nice piece. Just like some of the conversations I have on my morning dog walks. Same the world over!
I agree, thanks!
Dear stuart, made a lovely reading.Sometimes we all feel morose even when we are 20 or 40 or 58 and feel no zest in our lives but certain people show us life is always worth Living:D
I agree! Thank you!
I am excited too!
I will wander right over, thank you.
