On The Radio…

I may be more comfortable writing than talking but talking I will do… this Friday, August 28th at 1:30 p.m. EDT when I join Annette Rochelle Aben as her guest on Tell Me a Story, a presentation of The Magic Happens Radio Network!

We’ll likely discuss a little about my blog and a story of mine included in the latest Chicken Soup for the Soul: Volunteering and Giving Back, then move on to something less interesting…me.

Below is the description provided for Friday’s show along necessary links to join in on the fun.

I hope you’ll log in and listen!

Stuart M. Perkins

Storyshucker Stu Perkins on Tell Me a Story – no need to pinch yourself, it is actually happening  Friday, August 28th. We have tried a couple of times but the 3rd time has indeed been the charm for us here at The Magic Happens Radio Network. Visiting Stu’s blog, Storyshucker, and reading his tales is like taking a step back in time to when people took priority over popularity and family was the ‘inter-net’ where you learned everything.

Oh, and that blog address is http://www.storyshucker.wordpress.com/ so be sure to head over and catch up the archives and see what heart-warming story has been shucked of late.

Also, keep an eye open for a brand new Chicken Soup for the Soul: Volunteering and Giving Back, because Stu Perkins is one the contributing writers. We cover this and more in Friday’s Tell Me a Story, a presentation of The Magic Happens Radio Network. Find us at:

  3. Kreng Jai

    Wow! Congratulations 👍

  4. I’m enjoying your blog since signing on to receive it & I thank you for signing up to receive mine.

I was an OR RN for more than half my life, took an early retirement & was shortly diagnosed with breast cancer. I’ve been doing well since but started doing all the stuff I always wanted to do (we’re not guaranteed second chances & the BC was my wake-up call), including writing. For 6 years I hosted a local TV talk show (loved it) & still speak to seminars about BC. Now I also freelance: getting an occasional article published in magazines & also freelance for our local newspaper.

Recently, like you, I’ve had a story published in “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Inspiration for Nurses.” Have been making the local talk show rounds, as you are & newspaper interviews. Am doing a Chicken Soup book signing Sept. 5.

Just wanted to say hello, that we share similar experiences & that I enjoy your blog so very much.

  12. When I was a librarian the Chicken Soup books were the library’s most stolen items! Congrats on being published in such a popular series!

  15. Looking forward to hearing the interview!

  16. This is great Stuart–another “I knew him when moment” 🙂

  17. I was sitting in the hospital alongside my young daughter as she fought a serious infection, and someone lent me a Chicken Soup book. I spent much of that night either on my knees or writing down many of the warm inspirations from that book. I hope you can realize how these books can be like an emotional salve for people from time to time, and that you are contributing to the healing of human hearts.
Congratulations on the book and the radio show!
My family enjoys your blog a great deal.

  18. Well done! I am sure you’ll enjoy yourself!

  27. trE

A mighty congratulations to you, sir!

  28. Really cool! You will be GREAT!

  29. Wonderful! I am so pleased for you!

  30. Well deserved recognition. I’m in the wrong part of the world to listen to the program, or perhaps the real reason is that I value my sleep too much, but I’m sure you’ll do a great job.

  31. Christine

    How exciting! 😉

  32. Glad you are getting some recognition for your superb, uplifting stories – well done 😊😊😊😊

  33. Congrats and all the best…:-)

  34. Fantastic! I don’t think I can listen to the live broadcast here in the UK, so will there be a podcast? Have fun!

  35. Looking forward to seeing your story in Chicken Soup for the Soul.

  36. I am looking forward to putting a voice to your wonderful stories. Such a well deserved recognition but you are wrong about being less interesting than your stories – they only exist because of you!

PS – I also saved a pokeweed plant that grew where it didn’t belong because of your story on that topic! Unfortunately your story wasn’t enough to keep my husband from cutting it down (I did read it to him before I agreed to let it go) but I’m not worried – I know it will be back!

    • Your comment cracked me up about the pokeweed! I have one this year that I’m letting grow and next year I intend to move it and make it a “real” part of the garden! Thanks for the great comment about my stories. I appreciate that encouragement. Thanks again!

  37. All the best as you showcase your remarkable story telling on radio. Well done with loads of well wishes for the recognition of your remarkable talents.

  38. Lisa

    I can’t wait!!!
